TATA POWER SELECTION PROCESS

Tata power has been given the 1st day slot in our college for the recruitments of the 2007-11 batch students.

Visited : December 2010

Eligibility criteria : 60% (no back logs)

Number of students eligible from both ECE & EEE for written Test: 82

Written test (level 1): Attended- 82, Qualified- 19

Group discussion (level 2): Attended- 19, Qualified- 9

Technical Interview (level 3) & HR interview (level 4): Attended – 9

QUALIFIED- 5(ece - 1, eee - 4)

v BHAVITHA (2007 -11 batch) of ECE has been selected for Tata Power.

v Pay – 4.1 lakh/annum

SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR TATA POWER(2007-11)

1. There are 4 levels in the selection process

2. They are:

· Written Test

· Group discussion

· Technical interview

· HR interview(Personal interview)

1st level:

3. In the Written Test there are 4 different categories of subjects

· English (20 bits)(20mins)(Basics like parts of speech,meanings,grammar)

· Maths (30 bits)(30mins)(all the basics maths of 7th ,8th,9th,10th classes)

· Logical and analytical (quant)(30 bits)(30 mins)(cat material)

· Technical(20 bits)(20 mins)(all the core subjects)

4. Cutoff’s differ from year to year and subject to subject based on the number of students attending the test. It will be decided on the spot and it may not be revealed.

2nd level:

5. Group discussion is based on the general topics and real life topics…

· Based on the cut off marks, students get promoted to 2nd level.

· Each student who got selected to 2nd level from the 1st level will be given a chance to take a chit and discuss on that topic with their fellow mates and conclude the topic.

· So Tata power’s group discussion is a unique session where each and every student gets the chance to start the topic and conclude the topic.

· Here our communication skills, fluency, leadership qualities, Presence of mind, way of approach to the situation etc are tested.

· Example: You are working as a Manager in a Cool drinks company or any food making company’s…If you see a dead Rat at the Preparation or mixing place, what do you do???How do you respond to it???

· These kind of Questions or topics may be given to each student.

3rd level:

6. Based on their requirements, the students will be qualified from 2nd level to 3rd level i.e. Technical Interview.

7. This session is conducted for each and every qualified student separately for about 45 minutes each.

8. Our seniors were mainly asked about their Mini Project, Favorite Subjects.

Questions are like this…

a) Explain your Mini Project...

b) What is your Favorite Subject?

c) Questions from Favorite Subject (you should be perfect at all concepts related to that Favorite subject).

d) Questions from the basics of all the core subjects of ECE.

e) Questions related to your Resume (Do not fake anything in the Resume because the interviewers will be reading our resume line by line.)

4th Level:

1) Based on the performance of the student in the 3rd level, the students will be selected to the 4th level.

2) It is the Personal interview for each student separately for about 20 minutes each.

3) The questions asked in this session are like this

a) As Tata power is not there in Hyderabad, we should be ready to work anywhere in the Country (in any branch).

b) Questions were asked about their Organization.(We should know about the Organization for which we are applying for the job )

c) Will you continue the job after your marriage (this questions is mainly asked for girls)

d) Can you work at night shifts,etc

e) Questions about your parents, siblings, hobbies, and the other things mentioned in your resume.

v Procedure may or may not be same for our batch.

v This time the company may visit the college early than before.

v Technical written test was the only situation where our seniors have faced the problems.

v Do not fake anything and don’t get tensed.
